I came up with my own theory on how Nightcrawler could already be in the MCU. They change some of the Marvel history around to make it work for this universe, so that’s what I’ve down here.

Basis: Why introduce another red demon, ie Azazel, when there is already one, hopefully, coming, Mephisto.

​

If Mephisto is the one causing the issues taking place in WandaVision, then he would had to have been in the MCU universe for years, if not centuries. Thus, we can just have him been doing everything Azazel might have been doing since biblical times.

​

Starting about 18 years ago, the lord of hell, known as Mephisto, makes his way to the human realm with the aims of breeding a horde of new demons for the sole, soul?, purpose of conquering Earth. During his… travels, of impregnating the women of Earth, he comes across a German countess living in the Bavarian city of Winzeldorf by the name of Raven Darkholme. At this point in the MCU, Raven is just a normal human, assassin and opportunist, but still beautiful and stunning enough to get almost anything she wants. At the time, she is married to the German count, Christian Wagner, a wealthy man, yet infertile. Raven loved the count’s money, but not his inability to bare a child, thus she moved around the city getting with anyone she could. Although, her inability to get pregnant may not have been entirely the count’s fault, as later we find out she can only be impregnated by non-humans, mutant or other, due to a genetic defect making her incompatible with other humans. Thus, one night, she comes across a tall, thin man with a devilish appearance and charm. He easily seduces her, leading her to a nearby church. Mephisto and Raven go at it right in the middle of the empty church and leading to Raven’s first pregnancy.

Somewhere during the first month or so of the pregnancy, Count Wagner gets suspicious of this and orders tests to be done. Raven can not afford to have it revealed that this is not the count’s child. She kills and buries the count and assumes control of his estate. About 8 months later, Raven gives birth to a ‘red’ skinned, demon baby with yellow eyes and a pointed tail. The villager fearing a demon child and its mother, chase Raven from the town and out into the woods. They chase her out to a nearby waterfall where Raven tosses her child over so the villagers won’t be able to follow the baby’s crying. She manages to hide and escape the villagers and leaves Germany shortly there after.

Fortunately for baby Wagner, his father was watching the ‘show’ and magically teleported the baby to safety, allow it to drift down the river to a spot where an associate of Mephisto’s was waiting. The sorceress Margali Szardos, owner of a traveling circus, pulls the baby from the river and takes him in. She gives him the name, Kurt Wagner, after being informed by Mephisto of the earlier events. Kurt grows up in the circus for the first sixteen years of his life just as he did in the comics, red skin instead of blue, performing as an acrobat for the show. His inborn ability to teleport, acquired from his father, activates when a wave of intense gamma radiation sweeps over the planet, the first of two. This occurs just in time to save Jimaine, his co-performer and girlfriend at the time, from falling from the high wire caused by the rocking of the Earth. Afterward, Margali helped Kurt to understand what was happening and control it, thou, he wasn’t able to go more then a few hundred feet at the most. That is until a second wave of gamma radiation sweeps over the Earth, a mere few hours later, greatly enhancing his ability, allowing him to teleport a couple miles in any direction.

Now, the whole world knows about the Avengers, their battles over the years and with Thanos which caused those surges of gamma radiation. Kurt and Margali are able to piece together the mystery of his powers, but she never tells him about his father and being half demon. The next couple of years go by without incident, but what they don’t know is what is currently going on in Hackensack, NJ, USA. Where a young woman by the name of Wanda Maximoff is taking part, whether willing or unwilling, we don’t know yet, in an alternate reality bubble where she just had two mutant twins and living ‘a great life’ with her dead, but somehow alive, synthoid husband, Vision. It is theorized that Mephisto has something to do with this, cause he, in the comics, tricks Wanda in this way to drain her magic power and the kids are just extensions of Mephisto.

If, or when, Wanda tries to keep her kids safe and happy outside the bubble and says something like, ‘…. more mutants’, she would send a wave of reality altering magic energy across the world, affecting everyone and activating their mutant genes. This affects two people on Earth in particular. Raven Darkholme, whom, at activation of her mutant gene gets her skin turned blue and gains the ability to shape ship, taking on the name, Mystique. And her son, also gets his skin turned blue, having some of Raven’s genes as well, and gets his hands and feet deformed into the three fingers and two toes he has today. The rest of Kurt’s history, accidentally killing his step brother, chased by an angry mob, saved by Xavier and given the nickname Nightcrawler goes on as before.

Thus, Kurt Wagner could already be around but easily hidden away in Germany and hopefully WandaVision will turn out the way we all hope.
